Most Star Wars fans by now know
of the missing or cut material from the Star Wars movies. Still
I thought an exploration of these scenes would be something that
people might be interested in. This first scene shows Luke looking
up into the sky with his macrobinoculars at the battle taking
place overhead between an Imperial Star Destroyer and the tantive
IV. (Pics of that battle can be seen on my Episode IV page).
"But I was going to the
Tosche station to pick up some power converters!" Yes, we
all know the line where Luke Skywalker, future Jedi Knight and
founder of the the Jedi Academy on Yavin whines to a painful degree.
It makes me cringe every time I hear it. But what and where is
this so-called Tosche station? Well here's a picture Of Luke taking
to Biggs after shortly arriving at Tosche station.
Another shot of Tosche Station's
interior. In this one we see Camie. Very little is known of Camie
other than the fact that she was Fixer's girlfriend. Fixer was
another of Luke's acquaintances that frequented Tosche Station.
In fact the overbearing mechanic was employed at the station.
I get the feeling he didn't do much work though. Assuming that
there was work to be done. It is Tatooine after all.
After the initial excitement
of seeing his old friend again Luke remembers why he was there
and insists that everyone come outside to see the battle. Groans
ensue and one is left with the unmistakable feeling that this
isn't the first *battle* Luke has *seen*. In this picture we see
Luke, Camie, Fixer and Biggs outside Tosche Station with Biggs
looking at Luke's battle through his macrobinoculars.
This picture
shows an alternate scene of Luke finding out that his family have
been flash fried by imperial stormtroopers. Notice the cloak that
he does not actually where in this scene. Click for a larger image.
This scene depicts
a medical droid that was attacked by a Wampa. At this stage our
heros didn't know what was attacking the TaunTauns. This scene
led in another scene where 3po removes a warning sign where some
Wamps are trapped. Unsuspecting Snowtroppers go charging in. Click
on the picture for a larger one.

EXT. DUNE SEA-LANDING AREA A ferocious
sandstorm block our view. Then, through the roar, we hear the
voices of our heroes. They emerge slowly from the veil of sand,
pressing against the wind. First come Artoo and Threepios, followed
by Leia guiding Han, the Luke and Lando come into view, each
supporting one side of the towering Chewbacca, who hobbles from
his wound. LEIA: That's all any of us can see. HAN: (blinking): Then I guess I'm getting better. As soon as
the group huddles under the bulk of the Falcon, the wind dies
down to something more describable as a severe weather condition. HAN: (turning to Luke) I've got to hand it to you, kid, you were pretty good out there. LUKE: (shrugging it off) I had a lot of help. Think nothing of it. HAN: No, I'm thinking alot about it. That carbon freeze was the closest thing to dead there is. And it wasn't just sleepin. It was a big wide-awake nothing! Luke nods, as Chewie growls affectionately at the young Jedi warrior, mussing his hair like a proud uncle. And Leia warmly hugs him. LUKE: (moving to his ship) I'll see you back at the fleet. HAN: Why don't you leave that crate and come with us? LUKE: I have a promise I have to keep first...to an old friend. Luke and Artoo take off in their spacecraft. HAN: (looking dubiously at Lando, obviously remembering his friend's betrayal and subsequent aid) Guess I owe you some thanks, too, Lando. LANDO: Figured if I left you frozen like that you'd just give me bad luck the rest of my life, so I might as well get you unfrozen sooner or later. LEIA: He means, "You're welcome." LANDO: Come on, let's get off this miserable dust ball. |
The
sandstorm, filmed at Pinewood studios on January 11, 1982, was
the first scene shot for Return of the Jedi.On that first day
of filming, 17 camera setups were completed in a total of nine
working hours. Six days earlier, Harrison Ford arrived on the
set in a wheelchair due to a back problem.
Full-scale
versions of the Falcon, Luke's Xwing, and a Y wing were built
directly on the set. The X-wing remianed on the stage when the
set was later converted into Dagobah.
visibility. Anthony Daniels also became lost
in the sandstorm and almost collided with the camera crew.

I included this shot becuase it's the only time you see this particular version of Luke's saber from Jedi. You'll notice it isn't as polished as the one seen in the rest of the film. Also the knobs near the bottom of the hilt seem to be more pronounced and silver rings on the forward grip seem to be missing. |

Sometimes you run into things that just make you
go huh? This is a scene supposedly cut from Jedi where the Rancor
fights a Krayt dragon. Although this shot does look legitamte
I'm wondering if perhaps it could have been fan generated. I've
never heard anything before about this scene and things from Star
Wars, especially the first trilogy, that I haven't heard about
are rare. Does anyone know anything about this? Please Email
me if you do. Click on the photo for a closer look.
This
scene however I knew about. Luke jumps up and away from the rancor
to hang from the grating only to have his fingers smashed by a
guard. why do all these things get taken out? click on the blah
blah, you know the routine.
The Naboo Swamp
before working again.
This scene shows young Anakin in a fight
with a young Greedo. (click on the picture for a larger image)
This
scene was also emitted. I'm not sure what was taking place here.

This scene shows Anakin ducking down
in the seat of the cockpit waiting for the engines to cool down.
Meanwhile Artoo has a conversation with the Battledroids convincing
them that he is the pilot of the Naboo fighter.(Click for much
