File No. 699101-CD-3758-G

SUBJECT: Seraph

Little is known about this newcomer to Miami's metahuman scene. He was first encountered outside the Historical Museum of Southern Florida, the victim of an attack by several paranormals who were initially intent on killing him for using "magic." This Lethal Legion apparently mistook Seraph to be the leader of The Hexagon, the Old Man. That this masked mystic is able to invoke a wide variety of powers is obvious. Seraph also appears to possess significant physical prowess (though not to superhuman extent) and martial skills.

PRIMUS observation data indicates the masked mystic may have been active for quite some time prior to his initial public appearance outside the museum. No documentation exists as to the extent of his activities prior to that incidence. However, it is known that Seraph and the Sprite twins know each other, although to what extent remains to be determined.

Special Agent Claire Hardin reported that Seraph is a team player, is willing to work with PRIMUS personnel in a cooperative manner, and refers to himself as a "neophyte" in the use of "magic." In spite of his self-deprecation, Seraph's attitude and demonstrated abilities indicate he could be a useful ally in future PRIMUS activities.

PRIMUS psychological profiles indicate a curious mixture of self-reliance (see Agent Hardin's entry, File No. 8-FA-255-T) and apparent need for seeking out others who share his sense of responsibility in curtailing area criminal activities. Initial study indicates Seraph possesses a strong pathological desire to protect his secret identity. At this point, the reason cannot be qualified and documented.

The recommendation is that every effort be made to entice Seraph into a close working relationship with PRIMUS. The presence of the mystically oriented Old Man and The Hexagon may prove useful in this regard, as might Seraph's relationship with the Sprite twins.

Seraph has been issued a PRIMUS Threat Level Designation of Five (5). Agents should use caution if in a situation of potential conflict, given the wide array of talents and abilities this masked mystic seems to possess. However, in spite of his ability to invoke "magic" or similar offensive and defensive capabilities, Seraph remains a human being. His reaction time and physical prowess - though significant and obviously enhanced through training - still remain within the human norm. PRIMUS weapons and MCT tactics should prove useful if Seraph was to alter allegiances and use his metahuman abilities in criminal activities.

IDENTITY: Unknown (Marcus Allen Clay, Jr.)

HEIGHT: 5'10"

WEIGHT: 210 lbs., approximate estimation

HAIR: Black

EYES: Brown

RACE: African American

APPEARANCE: Seraph is quite dapper and apparently takes great pride in his appearance. His attire seems to be mundane - white tuxedo shirt, dark slacks, patent leather shoes, skin-tight black gloves - but obviously has been altered to resist both damage and grime. His most striking feature is the black laquered, molded metal mask he wears. The features of the mask are stereotypical African male.

Seraph possesses a stalwart build, and has obviously spent years training to reach a level of physical prowess not often seen. However, Seraph's most obvious strength is his ability to invoke varied effects by what he calls "magic." The myriad offensive, defensive, informational, and healing "spells" he has been seen to invoke make him one of the more capable metahumans known. Seraph has referred to himself as a "neophyte" in the use of "magic," which would seem to indicate there are those who possess greater abilities still.

Major facts that PRIMUS does not know...

Seraph is the son of Marcus Allen Clay, Sr., a mystic who was seduced by the power magic brings and was destroyed by one who did to him what he did to others: stealing away knowledge like some thief in the night for personal enlightenment and gain. Marcus Clay, Jr. fears that he too will unwittingly follow the same path, eventually being consumed by the very forces upon which he relies. To this end, Marcus is driven to fight the good fight, using his abilities to make the world a better place as he seeks to work through his own moral questions as his skills develop apace. Marcus has a great curiosity about anything reeking of mysticism.

He is one of the few individuals who know that the so-called Sprite twins are a composite being, immortal, and hail from the realm of Faerie.
