File No. 661878-DT-8705-G

SUBJECT: Morningstar

A relative newcomer to the Miami vigilante scene, Morningstar is an energy projector of not insignificant power. To date, this masked metahuman has mostly been embroiled in collaring small-time criminals and the ill-fated metahuman villain team The Royal Flush Group. Rumor has it that the Royal Flush Group, formerly Gang and now Cabal, have been making threats that they plan to save face by doing away with Morningstar. They have not as yet proven capable of harming or overcoming their "persecutor." Time will tell whether or not this costumed crime-fighter takes a greater role in pursuing the Miami-area criminal element now that he has met and worked with other Florida-based metahuman vigilantes.

PRIMUS observation and psychological profiles seem to indicate Morningstar is a young man, presumably in his early twenties. He has demonstrated a certain rash attitude, appears to be impatient and possesses an in-built distrust of authority. These character traits have been identified as the cause of several instances where Morningstar seemed to be "unlucky" in his attempts to capture various criminals. Still, those self-same traits could prove beneficial as a recruiting tool to entice Morningstar to work with PRIMUS in officially sanctioned missions. Recommendations are that he be offered training and informational support in exchange for his cooperation.

Morningstar has been given a PRIMUS Threat Level Designation of Five (5). Agents should use caution if in a situation of potential conflict, given his light-amplification powers. Special attention should be given to this metahuman's mental make-up: his youthful impulsive nature may provide a tactical advantage should he become a threat to society or begin to use his powers in an unlawful manner.

IDENTITY: Unknown (Jarod Mace)

HEIGHT: 6'0"

WEIGHT: 175 lbs., approximate estimation

HAIR: Unknown (Brown)

EYES: Unknown (Blue)

RACE: Caucasian

APPEARANCE: Morningstar is a middling tall, leanly athletic male whose vigilante uniform generally is stylized, red motorcycle racing leathers, a black leather jacket, and a red Zorro-style mask. Curiously, his outfit bears a vague resemblance to that favored by the metahuman Vagabond - a notorious member of The Hexagon. He appears to be in his early twenties.

Morningstar possesses fairly standard superhuman abilities in the area of energy manipulation: he has been known to generate destructive blasts of varying intensity, can surround himself in a glowing force field, and seems to be able to use his energy-manipulation abilities as lift and thrust, enabling him to fly. Observation indicates his energy manipulation abilities focus on light energy, from rather harmless flashes to potent laser beams.

Major facts that PRIMUS does not know...

Morningstar actually is Jarod Mace, the son of Rear Admiral Eugene Mace, United States Navy, retired. The younger Mace and his father do not get along, having a very dysfunctional relationship. The elder Mace's life focused strongly on his career. When he discovered his son was a mutant, he turned away from the boy, fearing what public disclosure might mean in terms of promotion or national security clearance. This set the stage for years of estrangement between father and son. As a result, Jarod Mace has developed a resistance to authority figures. What makes this particularly curious is that - as Morningstar - Jarod has been increasingly brought into the circle of having a number of authority figures work quite closely with him - mainly, several members of the Miami Police Department, who have offered the young hero illicit aid or advice on occasion.
