Minions of the Overlord

Largely unknown until three of the group's members attacked the masked mystic Seraph outside the Historical Museum of South Florida during the "A Watery Grave" episode, mistaking him for either the Old Man - Juan Miguel Rosa - himself or a sorcerous apprentice and member of The Hexagon.

The Overlord's minions seem to be hunter-killers intent on slaying the Old Man and stopping once and for all the threat of The Hexagon. The group has proven to be clever and resourceful, well able to stand toe-to-toe with the Gulf States and Caribbean's toughest metahumans in a slugfest or approach a problem with tact and subtlety. It has been theorized from available facts that the group has - in one way or another - been in existence for six years or more. Many of its known metahuman members appear to be quite young, late teens and early twenties.

Seraph, PRIMUS agent Claire Hardin, and others have suggested that each member has in some way been victimized by the Old Man and The Hexagon, and have bound together to enact vengeance. However, it appears that at least some of the so-called Minions of the Overlord have other motivations. A shared vision made possible by the uncanny powers of Beholder indicated two of the dreaded "na ban tuathige" were seen in the company of Gargoyle, one of the minions. The dark fairies certainly are nobody's victims, and so their reasons for apparently assisting the Overlord in his self-appointed task remains largely a matter of conjecture.

Known, current members of the so-called Overlord's Minions include:

· Babd: This dark fairy is one of the "na ban tuathige" who journeyed to Earth at the behest of Person or Powers unknown. She delights in discord and strife, but of a sort at once subtle and sublime that builds and builds to devastating effect. Babd is the most cunning, complex, and devious of the dark fairies.

· Darkraven: Willie Braddock is a member of the Osage Tribal Nation, and is a former member of the Pentagon's Special Tactical Force for Metahuman Abeyance, Apprehension, and Containment. A thirty-something half-breed, he is the son of a full-blood Osage woman and an as yet-unrevealed white father. The surname Braddock comes from his foster father, Caleb Braddock, under whose roof Willie spent several of his teenage years. Darkraven is the former protege and partner of Centurion, but went awol from government service following the disastrous mission at the Pyramid of the Sun some years ago. He has resurfaced recently as one of the Overlord's underlings. Darkraven possesses several superhuman physical abilities, as well as the ability to enhance his strength, speed, and resistance to injury still further by channeling an unknown type of energy into his physical body. Darkraven also can channel the energy to manipulate gravitic particles related to flight or release it as blasts of laser-like light from his eyes that seems to have a particularly debilitating effect on living matter. Formerly top secret files shared by the Pentagon indicate that Darkraven can only enhance a singular ability at any one time, the sole significant weakness possessed by this powerhouse.

· Discord: Brian Pollock looks like the Heavy Metal version of the spandex crowd. He is middling tall, has long dark hair, and wears a blood red and black bodysuit and half-mask. Discord is a follower of Overlord, and seems to enjoy his role as a hunter-killer. He possesses sonic abilities that issue forth from his vocal cords. Pollock is not very old, just 21 years of age, and looks more like a collegiate frat rat beneath his mask than a nefarious supervillain. The hero Seraph has suggested that Pollock possibly has been victimized by the Old Man at some time in the past, and so willingly serves Overlord and the quest of vengeance against The Hexagon. He was captured by Seraph during the "A Watery Grave" episode and currently is in PRIMUS custody.

· Gargoyle: Little is known about him. His companions have been known to refer to him by the name Jason. What is evident is that he is a physical powerhouse: super strong, highly resistant to injury, hands ending in talons, large bat-like wings that assist his ability to fly, a prehensile tail, and more than enough martial skill to use his physical prowess to excellent advantage. His manner often seems to indicate a relative youthfulness, at a level seen in the actions of his comrades Discord and Shadowhawk. However, Gargoyle is known to become easily enraged during battle or if taunted cruelly about his appearance.

· Macha: The "Crone of Conflict," one of the "na ban tuathige" who journeyed to wreck havoc on Adamuh, i.e. "Earth." The fairies that passed through the Great Barrier must meld with the physical form of one comparable in genotype to their actual bodies. Macha, therefore, usurped the body of an aged woman, effectively taking over the life of that individual and making the physical form her own. The ancient crone has found her new identity useful, and well able to hide her exploits because few realize that she possesses a secondary form: a scaled, winged female horror that easily dismissed tabloid reports have erroneously labeled as being a "Harpy." Immortals walk the Earth once more, and fear, discord, malice, and strife follow apace.

· Overlord: The identity of this person remains a mystery. It is unknown if the individual is male or female, metahuman or not, young or old. Race, gender, indeed any identification other than the title to which he or she is referred remains a matter of pure speculation. What is known is that Overlord commands an assembled group of metahumans and has been able to forge them into a significant enough force to be a threat to the infamous Hexagon. PRIMUS believes Overlord to be brilliant and persuasive, a true leader type whose mode of leadership has yet to be determined. Few can argue the loyalty of those pledged to Overlord's cause, for minions unfortunate enough to be captured have divulged next to nothing about their organization.

· Shadowhawk: Michael Braddock is a member of the Osage Tribal Nation that has as its home base Osage County, Oklahoma, the largest county in the Sooner State. The Osage Nation originally hailed from Missouri, and can trace its roots back to glacial times 11,000 years ago. Technically speaking, Michael is a late teens half-breed: the son of a full-blood Osage mother and white father. He has three younger siblings and an older half-brother, the metahuman Darkraven who took the last name of Michael's father upon their mother's marriage to Caleb Braddock. Shadowhawk appears human in form, but composed of black shadow with glowing luminescence where his eyes should be. He has demonstrated the abilities of teleportation, energy manipulation, and extremely sharp senses - possibly preternatural in origin. He generally wears a dark blue and violet bodysuit, occasionally hiding his otherworldly appearance in a hooded cloak that makes him appear as a manifestation of the stereotypical Grim Reaper.

· Valkyrie: A young German woman who looks like the second coming of Gabrielle Reese dressed in provocative red leather that is a cross between an episode of Xena: Warrior Princess and a dominatrix. In addition to demonstrated close-quarter combat skills, Valkyrie wields a rune-carved black broadsword of exquisite workmanship that is rumored to be magical. She has used the blade to deflect energy blasts, as well as to cut through many metals and stone that would be resistant to any normal blade. Valkyrie was rendered unconscious by the combined efforts of Seraph, Sprite, and Matrix at Miami's Coast Guard research station during the "A Watery Grave" endeavor. Once separated from the black blade, Valkyrie's physical form altered itself into a smaller, less imposing version of herself.

It is possible that the Overlord's Minions count others amongst their numbers. A teenage girl who has a connection to Gargoyle is known to exist, and it is rumored that the supervillainess Mirage may be a member as well.
