The Hexagon
When it first appeared in the mid-1800s, The Hexagon was a group of six pirates who were known for their cunning and brutality. They plied the waters of the Caribbean, preying on any who were unlucky enough to cross their path. Whenever the authorities managed to get any headway in tracking them down, The Hexagon just disappeared. Rumors of black magic and voodoo hovered around the nefarious group, and they were greatly feared until their final disappearance during World War I.
Later, in the 1930's, a new group calling itself The Hexagon chose the old group's stomping grounds as its base. Led by six costumed metahumans, this new organization reaped its ill-gotten rewards by smuggling anything and everything illicit into and out of southern Florida. Eventually, Dr. Justice and his Anti-Crime Squadron put them out of business. During the climactic battle at their island hideout, The Hexagon's enigmatic leader attempted to flee in a small launch. It overturned in the subsequent pursuit, and he was believed to have drowned.
The Hexagon's current incarnation reared its ugly head in the late 1950's, once again choosing the Caribbean as a base of operations. This time, they were led by a Cuban national known only as El Hombre Obscuro. Believed to have been aided by Communist forces in Cuba, he and five other metahumans launched a campaign of terror throughout the islands, disrupting shipping and taxing the resources of the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard alike.
Eventually, as the Cold War progressed, The Hexagon had some sort of falling out with the Castro government. No longer supported by the resources of Cuba, they emulated their predecessors by adding smuggling, drug running, and piracy to their list of crimes. After the fall of the Soviet Union, they began selling their criminal expertise to anyone who could pay their price.
Today, they are every bit as feared as the original Hexagon, just as ruthless, and more devious than ever. It seems the lessons learned from past failures have fostered an ever-increasing level of expertise in The Hexagon, keeping pace with a world that has itself grown increasingly complex. The Hexagon has proven itself wholly capable of thwarting the wills of governments in North, Central, and South America - including that of the United States of America.
Current, known members of The Hexagon include:
·
Demonica: Alice Whitemore is a grossly overweight blonde who really can't wear anything but a muumuu. She is constantly eating sweets, and has been described by Whisper as being "nice." Unfortunately, Alice can transform into a true terror: a four-armed demon with superhuman strength, resistance to injury, claws capable of rending steel, and a very bad attitude wherein maiming is considered an acceptable and enjoyable pastime. As Demonica, she is considered by law enforcement officials to be The Hexagon's most dangerous member, save for the Old Man himself.·
Exeter: Not known to be a member of The Hexagon until an encounter with Beholder, Centurion, Morningstar, Seraph, Sprite, and the Silver Avenger on La Casanegra Island. Exeter appears part man, part machine; each half somehow interacting to operate as a complete whole - with the machine half being able to realign itself into new forms fairly rapidly as need dictates. Exeter has shown himself to be quite intelligent, with an extensive and formidable understanding of machinery based technology (not surprisingly).·
Mithryl: Eugene "Hans" Dorfmann is capable of transforming his body into living metal. In his metahuman form, Dorfmann is extremely strong and possesses increased resistance to injury. The metahuman villainess Whisper has recorded that Dorfmann was an apprentice of the Old Man who misfired a magical summoning, infusing his essence with that of an Earth Elemental. Official comment on this disclosure has not been forthcoming. Dorfmann is somewhat sensitive to taunts, and has been known to become berserk with rage, striking out at friend and foe alike with murderous intent. In his human form, Dorfmann is a very tall man possessed of a stalwart build, chiseled face, clear blue eyes, and blonde hair - the poster boy for Aryan perfection as envisioned by Adolf Hitler more than half a century ago.·
The Old Man: A criminal mastermind of the first rank. The Old Man is the leader of The Hexagon, the force behind the organization whose crimes encompass drug running, kidnapping, contract murder, political assassination, smuggling, robbery, and almost every other known form of criminal endeavor. His true name is Juan-Miguel Rosa, and he is immortal - more than 400 years old. Certain law enforcement records have suggested this fact, but it is not always believed. Those self-same records suggest that he is a sorcerer, able to invoke magical spells and dweomers to varied effect. The Old Man has nothing but contempt for those who get in his way, and has been known to refer to mankind as "eye-blinks." He is amoral, seeing himself as practicing some type of Darwinian experiment wherein the less tractable are weeded out of the human gene pool. This scientific detachment is a puzzle to many who try to overlay an emotional attachment onto his schemes. The Old Man is one of the most powerful metas known to exist.·
Pandora: In many ways, the group's most subtle and challenging member. Pandora wears a specially designed stealth suit designed, it is said, by the U.S. Military. This suit renders her invisible. Reports suggest that she possesses significant military training, is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, and expert in the use of several weapons. Otherwise, little is known of her. The hero Morningstar is reported to be somewhat confused in regards to her motives. During a confrontation at the beach house, Pandora took steps to ensure the safety of an unconscious, helpless police officer from the rampage of her cohort, Mithryl. The mentalist Beholder likewise has found Pandora to be a seeming study in contrasts.·
Vagabond: A big, burly, biker-type of seemingly Native American heritage, possibly Seminole. Vagabond is arrogant and full of himself, and has been known to brag that he can get in or out of any situation. Thus far, it has been no idle boast. He is known to possess the powers of discorporation and invisibility. Vagabond also wears a special belt of pouches stitched with emblems representing the zodiac. Inside those pouches, he has been known to remove a wide variety of apparently sorcerous devices that assist him in his endeavors. He favors wearing red and black biker leathers emblazoned with a golden, winged, stylized "V" and a black Zorro-style mask. His favored mode of transportation is a heavily armored motorcycle, usually the biggest, baddest hog available on the market. Some law enforcement officials believe Vagabond is the sorcerous apprentice of the Old Man.·
Whisper: Marie-Hélène Bonancieux, a.k.a. Whisper, is one of the world's most powerful espers. According to Silver Avenger Carlton Brice, Whisper ranks number two in his book of nasty people amongst The Hexagon. She is a beautiful woman, dark-haired, extremely sexy and alluring, but all bad attitude underneath. Whisper likes using her powers to make people hurt each other. Normally mute, when she does let loose any noise with her mouth the result is silent explosions like that from large loads of TNT.Many are the officials of the National Security Council, Central Intelligence Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Defense, and state and local law enforcement that would love to eradicate the threat of The Hexagon once and for all. The Hexagon has held the number one "Most Wanted" position with PRIMUS pretty much throughout the latter organization's existence.
