File No. 699016-SW-2252-G

SUBJECT: Beholder

Male or female, tall or short, beautiful or ugly; all or none of these attributes might apply to the metahuman called Beholder. PRIMUS has no way of knowing for certain. As yet, PRIMUS has been unable to develop an accurate physical description of Beholder, a powerful esper who never lets himself or herself be seen in his or her true form. The mental projection Beholder usually employs falls into one of two observations: a muscular superhero type male in a shimmering suit or an attractive, middling tall, leanly athletic male with long blonde hair who favors wearing jeans, T-shirt, tennis shoes, and leather jacket.

PRIMUS observation data indicates Beholder is a powerful and skillful esper, easily able to maintain illusions which affect the perceptions of those around him or her. It has been theorized by the Think Tank crowd that a person with a sufficiently strong sense of purpose and willpower might be immune to Beholder's illusory projections.

The PRIMUS psychological profiles paint a more complete picture than is possible in regards to physical identification, in part because of information gathered from subject's involvement with the attack on Rick Majors, and subsequent interrogation of the metahuman Whisper at Disney facilities. Documented evidence suggests it was Beholder - at the behest of Disney Ranger Captain Amy Rogers - who acted as Whisper's jailer, controlling the latter's own mind control powers via use of illusory effects of varied and very nasty effect. The willingness to do what it took to keep down an esper of Whisper's power indicates a certain pragmatism, possibly rooted in fear and inexperience. Although it is unknown whether or not Beholder experienced feelings of guilt afterward, the ability and willingness to use methods that might be described as "torture" were all too evident.

Given the legal ramifications of Whisper's forced interrogation, PRIMUS will maintain close observation on Beholder to try and determine subsequent psychological effects.

Beholder has been issued a PRIMUS Threat Level Designation of Seven (7). Agents should practice extreme caution if in a situation of potential conflict, given the mental projective abilities of Beholder and documented willingness to do whatever it takes - short of killing, perhaps - to get the job done. Official recommendation is for an ongoing Level Ten Security Procedure to be instituted on Beholder immediately. The powers of an esper cannot be underestimated. The potential threat presented by espers is well known.

IDENTITY: Unknown (Jolene Rasmussen)

HEIGHT: Unknown (5'4")

WEIGHT: Unknown (110 lbs.)

HAIR: Unknown (Brunette)

EYES: Unknown (Brown)

RACE: Unknown (Caucasion)

APPEARANCE: Beholder's true appearance is unknown. The mental projection Beholder usually employs falls into one of two observations: a muscular superhero type male in a shimmering suit or an attractive, middling tall, leanly athletic male with long blonde hair who favors wearing jeans, T-shirt, tennis shoes, and leather jacket.

Beholder possesses the ability to project mental illusions, possibly onto the sensory organs of a target or targets. Cross-referenced data retrieval indicates several statements of Beholder's wariness around video surveillance cameras. This might indicate that Beholder is unable to affect electronic devices, and may constitute a means for possible control should Beholder become a PRIMUS operational target himself or herself. It is possible that Beholder possesses other superhuman abilities of which PRIMUS knows nothing. Information regarding this individual to date is sketchy, at best.

Major facts that PRIMUS does not know...

Beholder is the male "mental construct" of the female esper Jolene Rasmussen, an attractive twenty-year-old who has a maturity far beyond her years yet remains, in many ways, the college-age woman she actually is. Jolene may be both the most powerful and most vulnerable of the metahumans currently allied together against Miami-area criminal activities. Her ability to project visual, auditory, and tactile illusions is a varied and almost indefensible attack form against most opponents. However, if her illusory abilities fail, she is practically helpless on her own. Jolene is blind, deaf, and has extremely limited tactile sensory abilities. Thus, she is dependent on others just to be able to interact with her surroundings.
