Transport
The Rebellion uses a number of transport
to transport their troops, machinery and equipment around the
Galaxy, These ships are an important part of the Rebels fleet as
these ships in convoys allow supply routes to the Rebel forces to
be keep open. Many of the ships used by the Rebellion were out
dated or converted but the need was such anything that could be
used will be used. A few ships were bought but many were captured
Imperial craft disabled and captured using ion cannons such as
those carried by Y wings.
The ship show here is the Gallofree medium transport, these ships can carry 10s of thousands of tonnes of cargo using a modular cargo sustem were the ship is just a hull and cargo pods are locked in place inside, passangers are carried in self containing life support pods and other cargo in magnetised crates.
The Gallofree has a crew of seven which
is in a small pod to the rear of the craft, where it is protected
by deflector shield generators. These ships are armed lightlty
with 4 laser cannons and so rely on other ships for protection.
They are equiped with a modest hyperdrive and replusror lift
engines to land directly on a planet like on Hoth.
Gallofree freighters were used to escape Hoth with only a barrage of ion cannon fire and two X wing fighters but many of these ships escaped to carr y on the fight against the Empire.
