Tie Interceptor
The Tie Inteceptor is the new generation
of Tie Fighters. It
uses many of the modifications added to the Tie Advanced prototypes but lacks the shields
and hyperdrives making it much faster, but it must rely heavily
on its speed to surive. The only star fighter faster than The TIE
interceptor is the A wing.
The Tie interceptor has 4 laser cannons, one is deployed at the end of each solar arrary, it also carries a small load of torpedos or missiles. Like the orginal TIE fighter there is no life support meaning the pilot must still wear the self contained suit. Tie Interceptors were deployed at the Battle of Endor.
Tie Fighter squadrons were few but at the time running up to the abttle of Endor the Empire was replacing its TIEs with Tie Interceptors but only about 1 in 5 were actually replaced before the battle.
