Star Destroyer
The Empire uses three different types of Star destroyer. The Victory Star destroyer, The Imperial Star Destroyer and the Super Star Destroyer.
TheVictory Star is an old heavy cruiser
which was first built during the Clone wars, and were the heavist
in thier class untill the creation of the Imperial Star
Destroyer. It is 900metres long and carries many weapons
including ion cannons, turbolasers, tractor cannons and
concussion missile tubes and two squadrons of Tie fighters and support ships such as
the lambada shuttle It also carries AT AT
s and other land forces.. Unlike the other Star Destroyers, The
Victory can fly in atmospheres allowing it to bombard from a much
closer range than orbital bombardment. The Victory has a fast
hyperspeed but is easily out classed at sub light speeds. Since
the large Destroyers have been created the Victories have lost
their significance, they have started to be used less in front
line battles and bore as Planetary defence, or even decomisioned,
The victory star destroyers have seen better days.
The Imperial Star Destroyer is evcen larger than the Vicory class, at over 1.5 km long they are the largest ships ever made before the Super Star Destroyers. The hulls of these craft are crammed with all the normal weapons to give over 200 weapon systems. There is also a whole wing of Tie Fighters aboard and many support ships such as Storm trooper Transports and Lambada shuttles. Star destroyers have whole pre fabricated fortresses aboard and many group attack units such as the AT AT walker and its support forces, when a whole planetry attack force deploys there group forces they can be over whelming such as in The battle of Hoth where an AT AT spearhead crushed the Alliance's defences. A Imperial Star Destroyer chased after Leia in the Blockade runner and captured the ship in its tractor beam.
The Super star
destroyers are some what impractical as it is over 8 km long and
smnaller ships would be more useful but the major advantage is
that causes fear in the enemy causing them to surrender before
the battle has started. Only one Super star destroyer was
deployed in battle and that was Darth Vader's
Executor, but it is unkown how many super star destoyers there
actually is. They carry over a thousand weapons, and two wings of
Tie fighters and over 200 other
ships, with group forces of a whole division of storm troopers
and hundrreds of AT ATs. The Executer was destroyed in the Battle of Endor, by an A
wing crashing into the bridge after the shields went down.
