Ion Cannon
Ion cannons are specialist laser
cannons, which are used to disable starcraft, by disabling the
electrical equipment causing very little damnage physically. Ion
cannons also pass through shields meaning ships have very little
defence. Shields can be converted to the frequency of the ion
cannon but that would leave the ship open to conventional
weaponary. Most capital ships such as Star destroyers and Mon Cal crusiers carry ion cannons.
Jawas
carry a minturised ion blaster whiich they use to capture Droids
such as R2D2, however they
build them themselves meaning it is likely that they will break
down or malfunction.
