A wing
The A wing is a fast interceptor star
fighter for the Rebels, it is armed with two laser cannons with
60 degree firing arcs and two Missile launcher tubes which carry
more missiles than the X wing.
It is very fragile and can be blown up as soon as the shields are
breached. It carries a sensor jammer which can be used in great
effect for Hit and fade runs where the great speed allowed the
fighters to hit and escape before enemy fighters could be
lauched..
The A wings were used in the battle of Endor and were used with great skill because of their vulerability the fighter pilots had to rely on their speed as their major defence. One A wing piloted by Arvel Crynyd crashed into the super star destroyers bridge and caused it to crash into the death star.
