ABCM (AW/SW) Kenneth  "KK"  Kramer, USNR
 
Master Chief Kramer enlisted in the United States Navy on the 24th of April 1976, in Kansas City, MO. and attended Recruit Training at the Naval Training Center San Diego, CA. After completing "Boot Camp" he was transferred to Naval Air Station, Lakehurst, NJ, where he attended Aviation Boatswains Mate Launch and Recovery Equipment Class "A" School and graduated top in his class.

As a newly designated "ABE", Seaman Kramer reported for duty onboard the USS Forrestal (CVA-59), in Norfolk, VA. After completing a nine month overhaul, he was sent ABE "C" school in Lakehurst, NJ. Upon completion of training Master Chief Kramer returned to USS Forrestal (CVA-59) and changed homeports to Mayport, FL.

Assigned to Air Dept/V-2 Div/Waist Catapults, he served in various billets including CAT Captain of number "3" catapult. After several carrier qualification periods and pre-deployment workups; made a Caribbean Cruise, North Atlantic Cruise where he received the 'Blue Nose' certificate for crossing the Arctic Circle and two Mediterranean Deployments (1978, 1979-80).

After returning to the states following the Med Cruise (1979-80), he left active duty and transferred to the IRR in June 1980.

In June 1982, he affiliated with the Naval Reserve at the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center Kansas City, MO. He was assigned to Ship's Intermediate maintenance Activity San Diego, CA.

In October 1982, he transferred to NR NAS Moffet Field CA Det 0883, at the Naval Air Reserve Center Olathe, KS.

In December 1985, he transferred to NR Coral Sea (CV-43) Det 0170, at Naval Air Reserve Memphis Millington, TN. He drilled until the fall of 1989, when the "Ageless Warrior" was decommissioned and became a "Plankowner" with NR USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72).

Being proud of tradition, he was initiated by choice and advanced to Chief Petty Officer at NAS Memphis on 16 September 1990.

In December 1993, transferred to NR USS George Washington (CVN-73) Det 0183, at Naval Air Reserve Center Olathe, KS. He drilled there until the base closure in December 1995.

In January 1996, he transferred to NR USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) Det 0170, at Naval Air Station Dallas, TX. In Dallas he assumed the duty of Command Chief Petty Officer.

In March 1997, the unit was relocated to NAS Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, TX. In December 1997 he was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.

In January 1998, he was transferred to NR USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) Det 0170, and served as the
Command Senior Chief until September 1998, when the unit was disestablished and became a
"Plankowner" in NR CVSU Southwest Det 0470, also designated as Command Senior Chief.

Immediately after his recent WESTPAC cruise Senior Chief was promoted to MASTER CHIEF IN Feb., 2000.

ABCM Kramer's Military Awards include:

Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Navy Battle 'E' Ribbon, Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Navy Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (3 awards), Navy Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal.  He is also designated Enlisted Air Warfare and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist.

In his civilian occupation, Master Chief Kramer is employed by Botsford Ready Mix Co. in Kansas City, MO.

01 JUN 99 - Senior is currently serving on the, 'CONNIE', USS Constellation (CV64) on a WestPac Cruise, that will be deployed until Mid December, 1999.
