Sci-fi version of Shakespeare's The Tempest remains one of the most ambitious
and intelligent films of its genre; only slow, deliberate pacing works
against it, as Nielsen and fellow space travelers visit planet where expatriate
Pidgeon has built a one-man empire with daughter Francis and obedient Robby
the Robot. Great effects, eerie electronic score. Beware 95 minute reissue
prints. Lavish use of wide-screen CinemaScope is severely diminished on
television. Robby the Robot was used also in THE
