GURPS Special Purpose Modular Weapon Systems (TL 7)
Version 1.11
Russian firearms designers have built two truly modular weapon systems
for special operations forces, the OTs-14-4A and the
AKS-74U.
Both allow various weapon configurations, tailored to the task at hand.
They are excellent for use with GURPS
Special Ops and may still enjoy popularity in GURPS
Cyberworld,
GURPS
Reign of Steel, and GURPS
Autoduel.
Some weapon descriptions have codes (e.g. [h,
l,
n,
s,
f])
indicating possible modifications/accessories. A code in round brackets
(e.g. (s)) indicates that the weapon is already
fitted with that extra. Click on the codes to go to the modifications/accessories
page. Clicking on the weapon names brings you additional immages.
Use the Guns [Rifle] skill for single shots, Guns [Light Automatic]
skill
for bursts and Guns [Grenade Launcher] skill with the underbarrel
grenade launcher or grenade launcher pistol.
OTs-14-4A
The OTs-14-4A is a Russian modular weapon system used by the special forces
of the Russian Interior Ministry. It uses the same cartridge as the new
VSS Vintorez sniper rifle, which is attributed superior antiricochet performance,
thought to be an asset in urban combat. The weapon is of modular design
and comes in a special carrying and storing case.
From the parts in this case four different configurations can be assembled
easily. The whole system costs $1,250.

AKS-74U
The AKS-74U is a Russian assault rifle, outfitted with the PBS silent fire
device (a silencer) and the detachable BS-1 silent underbarrel grenade
launcher that doubles as a silenced pistol. The whole system costs $750.

Note: The BS-1 fires its grenades silently by propelling them with
a silenced pistol round (-6 to hear shoots, -8 to recognize if unfamiliar
with). It may be detached from the AKS-74U rifle and used on its own or
