GURPS Submachine Guns (TL 7)
Version 1.62
Some weapon descriptions have codes (e.g. [h,
l,
n,
s,
f])
indicating possible modifications/accessories. A code in round brackets
(e.g. (s))
indicates that the weapon is already fitted with that extra. Click on the
codes to go to the modifications/accessories
page.
A "+" or "-" after Type of damage means a caliber-based
wounding modifier (p. HT7), applies to the remaining damage after subtracting
DR: "-" means halve damage; "+" means multiply by 1.5 (see p. B209).
Note that Machine
Pistols are not listed here but under Pistols.
Use the Guns [Rifle] (for single
shots) or Guns [Light Automatic] (for bursts) skills with submachine
guns (and also for assault rifles).

.22 LR [h,

 |
This was one of the first guns with an optional laser sight (1979).
The high RoF makes it practical to wear down armor and cover with long
bursts. One can cut a telegraph pole in this fashion. Use the rules on
p. B125. (In GURPS
High Tech, Third Edition, the damage is given as 1d+2 but the caliber-based
wounding modifier is omitted. It seems like the modifier was "included"
in the DAM statistic of "1d+2". So the result is the same, but the statistics
given here stay more true to the usual GURPS way.) Use 20-round groups
for "Very High RoF" (p. HT78, CII66) to calculate "Hits in a burst" (p.
B120). |

The P90 is an intermediate weapon, falling somewhere between SMG and assault
rifle. Damage depends on ammunition. SS190 standard ball: 4d. SB193 subsonic
ball: 3d [not reduced by silencer]. The rounds are very light: 80 rounds
per pound (compare to other cartridges: p. HT13, p. CII38). The silencer
can be mounted (and removed) in 3 seconds (-10 to hear shoots, -12 to recognize
if unfamiliar with).

Technically this is a very short carbine, firing a rifle round, but
it is listed under submachine guns as it is referred to as a submachine
by Heckler and Koch and clearly intended to be used like one. A 40-round
magazine is available. Holdout is -3 with retracted shoulder-stock. Muzzle
blast and report are considerable and hardly bearable in enclosed areas. |

The SG 552 "Commando", made by SIG Arms in Switzerland, this is the
smallest member of the SG 550/551 weapons family. Technically it is a very
short carbine, firing a rifle round, but it is listed under submachine
guns as it is clearly intended to be used like one. A 30-round magazine
is available. Holdout is -3 with folded shoulder-stock. |
