The assault rifle is often the workhorse of combat troops. Many more assault rifles are in GURPS High-Tech.
Some weapon descriptions have codes (e.g. [h, l, n, s, f]) indicating possible modifications/accessories. A code in round brackets (e.g. (s)) indicates that the weapon is already fitted with that extra. Click on the codes to go to the modifications/accessories page. Clicking on the weapon names brings you additional immages.
Use the Guns [Rifle] (for single shots) or Guns [Light Automatic] (for bursts) skills with assault rifles.

The AUG is an Austrian bullpub design. The barrel can be removed in
1 second. This lowers holdout to -4. Optional 42 round magazine. There
are four barrel lengths available:

The Galil is an evolved Israeli copy of the AK74. Like for the AK, recoil is added only after every second four-shot group of a continous burst (p. HT114). Optional 50 round magazine. Folding the stock lowers Holdout to -4, Acc to 5 and SS to 10. Using the bipod adds +1 to Acc. |

The trigger can be set for 2-round burst and full-auto. G36 Accessories
include a 100-round Dual Drum magazine ($256) and the NSA 80 II Passive
Night Vision Sight Module (eliminates darkness modifiers up to -8; $7,000).
Folding the stock reduces Holdout to -4, Acc to 7 and SS to 10.
The shorter carbine version, HK G36K, does 4d damage and weighs 6.6 lbs. |

HK-ACR
is the American name for the HK G11 K2. The U.S. Army holds the patents
for this weapon and may opt to use or sell it sometimes. Optional 3-round
burst (+3 to skill for number of hits; no recoil for first burst in combat
round; Rcl -3 for each subsequent burst in the same round). Two additional
magazines are carried side by side on the weapon and are included in the
weight, for a total of 135 shots. Mounting a grenade launcher on the HK-ACR
would spoil its balance (SS +3). A "universal implement attachment point"
in the front of the handguard allows for a bayonet, bipod, or laser aimer
to be attached.
