Rating: G
Keywords: MSR/FowlFic
Archive: This fic will quite happily make it's home at
your site, but don't make it mad by changing anything
:) *hehe*
Disclaimer:Nothing XF related belongs to me...
All hail the almighty CC, I am but a meek servant girl
who means you and your creations no harm.
Authors Note: One of the PPoS members suggested
someone write a fic where Diana hears Mulder tell
Scully he loves her and that Diana never meant
anything to him, so I gave it a shot.
OK this is kinda important. I attempted
to make this a more serious FowlFic and go into
Fowley's character a bit more, rather than have her as
the 'innocent' *and I use that word loosely!* Victim.
Usually in my fics she's either semi-nice or
unconscious. This time she's a bitch :) I haven't seen
most of Season six so I don't really know what she has
to do with colonization so if this is waaaaaay off
track feel free to throw stuff at me *quickly searches
for her helmet*
BTW I had 'Title-block' while writing this one so
excuse the over-used title.
Dedication: I don't usually add these things BUT this
fic has got to be for the PPoS gang....ThanX for the
idea guys! Here's your fic, don't say I never do
nothn' fer ya *g* hope ya like :)
"let me be the calm you seek, oh and everytime I'm
close to you, there's too much I can't say and you
just walk away"
I LOVE YOU
By TeaL
Scully slammed the file down on her partner's desk
and
turned to leave, refusing to meet his eyes.
"Scully, are you okay?" Mulder asked concerned.
Scully stopped in her tracks.
"No I am not okay!" She unexpectedly exploded, "Thank
you *very* much for ditching me!" she spat.
Mulder edged back in his chair a little before he
spoke,
"I didn't ditch you."
Her eyes locked on his as she took a step closer to
his desk.
"Excuse me?" Scully said as she took yet another step
closer to him, ultimately invading his personal space,
which he was desperately trying to reclaim right now.
"You didn't ditch me? Then what do you call *leaving*
me with the witness and taking off with Agent Fowley
*without* any warning to pursue a lead?"
Before he could answer she added, "This was *our* case
Mulder and it had nothing to do with her whatsoever."
"Look, I'm sorry, but she received a message from a
source she trusts and asked *me* to help follow it up."
Scully's eye's narrowed slightly.
"Scully", Mulder sighed, "She only asked me because
she trusts me..... she doesn't trust you."
His words hit her hard, she felt betrayed, but wasn't
entirely sure why.
"And you trust her."
It wasn't really a question and he knew it.
"Yes."
"Would you rather be her partner?" Scully asked
suddenly.
"What?" Mulder couldn't help but be shocked by the
question.
"Well, it seems to me you'd rather work with her.
I know you two have a past, for Christ's sake, Mulder,
the whole FBI knows about you two, and I can
understand that you would want to work with her now
she's returned, I can understand you wanting to be
with her. I don't trust her, you know that, and that
will never change."
Scully had been edging back towards the door, suddenly
not so confident and paused at the door before hitting
him with her parting shot,
"I can understand you'd rather work with someone you
love."
Closing the door gently behind her she left Mulder
staring at the back of it lost for words.
Quickly processing what she had just said, Mulder
stood and raced after her.
He didn't want to lose her like this, after all they'd
been through he couldn't let someone as meaningless to
him as Diana break up their partnership, their
friendship.
Walking quickly down the corridor, Scully could feel
the tears pricking at her eye's when a soft voice
echoed down the hall,
"Scully, please wait."
Diana Fowley wasn't overly fond of the old elevators
and the creaking sounds they occasionally made
and gave up waiting
for the car to reach her floor, thankful for the
excuse to use the stairs for once.
She couldn't wait a minute longer to tell Mulder,
in front of his Dana Scully, that they had solved the
case. *They* had solved it, Mulder and herself
together as a team.
The source had been legit and the suspect had been
taken into custody without incident.
Diana had always had his trust, now she hoped she
would have his respect..... she knew eventually she
would lose both when he discovered her connection to
Cancerman, but it was all a part of the plan.
Ultimately Mulder and Scully would be powerless and
colonization would continue without a hitch.
Diana had been promised survival.
Cancerman had promised her so much...
Diana was about to round the corner that lead to
Mulder's basement office when she heard two familiar
voices, she would have kept going and interrupted had
she not heard one small thing... her name...
"Scully you're wrong about Diana," Mulder grabbed her
arm to stop her from walking away.
"Oh and how so?" she asked, shaking her arm out of
his grip, still upset.
"You were right about me wanting to work with someone
I love, but you couldn't have been more wrong," he
lowered his voice a little.
Diana edged up against the wall.
'This should be interesting,' she thought, a small
smile playing on her lips.
"I don't love Diana...... I love you," the words
escaped his lips before his brain had a chance to stop
them.
Scully was speechless, sure this wasn't the first time
he'd spoken such words, but there was so much emotion
in his voice that she could feel it in her heart, plus
she was sure he wasn't on any drugs this time...
"Mul...", she began but was interrupted.
"Don't... just listen for a sec. Diana means *nothing*
to me, sure she did once a long time ago, but the
memories of that time are so faded that now when I
look at her I can't comprehend why I ever felt such
things for her. Yes I trust her, but I have no
respect, love or feelings of any kind for her. The
woman I love is standing right in front of me and
nothing or no one will *ever* change that."
Diana's jaw almost physically hit the floor.
No words had ever hurt her more in her life like those
just had.
She suddenly felt a deep hatred for both agents, a
hatred she never thought she could ever feel for
Mulder. Sure she had betrayed him, but pure hatred had
never been a part of it... Mulder had unfortunately
stumbled into a conspiracy he wasn't ready for and it
was Diana's job to stop him before he uncovered it
fully.
But now, she wanted nothing more than to see both
agents dead.
Turning back the way she came, Diana pulled out her
cellphone and dialed a familiar number...
Cancerman's.
Mulder reached over and gently wiped away the wetness
from Scully's cheek that she had never realised was
there.
His eye's met hers and he smiled, hoping he hadn't
just sealed an unwelcome fate.
Scully searched his soul for any doubts.
Finding none, she gently took his hand.
"Oh Mulder," she whispered, "I love you too."
She smiled almost shyly at him and almost laughed when
a huge grin appeared on his usually somber features.
Taking her in his arms, he gently kissed her forehead,
"See Scully, told you I'd rather work with someone I
love."
