Here's a little about me, just in case you were
burning up with curiosity. I am a 24 year old college student from Emporia,
Kansas. My parents currently live near Houston, but I still claim Kansas
as my home. I am currently studying international relations at the David
M. Kennedy Center at BYU. As you might guess from my choice of schools,
I am indeed a mormon. Matter of fact, I served as a full-time proselyting
missionary for two years in Ogden, Utah, which was a delight and a pleasure.
I love to read even more than I love to write.
As far as sci-fi and fantasy, I like a lot of old stuff, like Bradbury,
Asimov, and Tolkein. My oldest and truest love though, is Robert E. Howard,
creator of Conan the Barbarian. I have also read a lot of Anne McCaffery,
Douglas Adams, Orson Scott Card, Terry Pratchet, Roger Zelazny, Ursula
LeGuin, Fritz Lieber, and Robert Jordan (although I gave up on him after
Crown of Swords). Some of my other favorite authors outside of speculative
fiction are: James Thurber, Jorge Luis Borges, Chinua Achebe, Flannery
O'Connor, Anton Chekhov, Jonathan Swift, Voltaire, Rabelais, Machiavelli,
Rousseau, Aristophanes, Augustine, and Plato.
I enjoy both fantasy and science fiction,
although so far it seems that I have written a lot more fantasy, because
my sci fi novel is not going anywhere. I also write lots of other stuff.
In fact, one of my other stories ("Desert Shield, Prairie Storm," about
a high school fight) is going to be published shortly in a literary journal
called The Texas Review. If you would like to read it, just let
me know.
I am a Taurus (May 10) on the Greek zodiac and
was born in the Chinese year of the rabbit. My favorite color is red, my
lucky number is 4, and my favorite pro wrestler is either "Hacksaw" Jim
Duggan or the Ultimate Warrior. My favorite bands include Led Zeppelin,
U2, the Specials, Radiohead, Bob Marley, Morrissey, and Sting. The best
hamburger I have ever eaten was the Chili Burger at Mildred's Gourmet Hamburgers
in Sunset, Utah. My favorite GI Joe besides Snake Eyes was Shipwreck, and
I think Scarlett was much hotter than Lady Jaye. I am not married, engaged,
or even going steady, but I keep trying. Any questions???
