This list documents the use of Avalanche's powers in every issue he's appeared in (entries that read "none" mean he did not use his powers in that issue). I've also included relevant quotes from the issue that describe his powers in some way; some quotes are by him, some are from the narration, and some are by other characters.
Marvel Super-Heroes v.2 #11 ---creates a wave of ground; smacks Ms Marvel with rocks raised from the ground; creates a fissure between her and Pyro; starts crumbling a building down onto himself and Ms Marvel until she stops him.
"Avalanche gestures, and the floor turns fluid, sweeping towards Carol like a tidal wave---carrying her...and the room's contents---out into space."
"One well-placed shockwave to separate the two a' you..."
Uncanny X-Men 141 ---crumbles a stone sculpture; crumbles a wall.
"That sculpture...Avalanche, you disintegrated it!" "A minor demonstration of my power."
"Whose touch crumbles any solid object, creating an irresistible avalanche/tidal wave effect with earth, stone, steel, anything!" ---in this issue, he does not actually have to touch objects to make his powers work, despite what the text says.
Uncanny X-Men 142 ---shatters floor into wave; tosses ground under Wolverine into the air; earth wave.
"Beams of force hammer out from Avalanche's hands...giving the marble floor a liquid fluidity and sending it flowing towards the far end of the room like a tidal wave."
"Whose touch disintegrates inanimate objects." ---note that he doesn't actually have to touch objects to make his powers work on them.

"A path to the prison's inner courtyard is created by Avalanche---who can crumble solid objects (earth, stone, steel, anything) with a touch or a thought, creating an instantaneous avalanche/tidal wave effect."
"A gesture, a moment's concentration from Avalanche, creates an irresistible tidal wave of concrete that knocks the Avengers off their feet and sweeps their Quinjet into the East River."
"The ground---risin' up and sweepin' me away, like it did our Quinjet!"
"He's 'melting' that wrecked guard tower into a tidal wave!"
Incredible Hulk 263 ---shatters the ground; destroys ground underneath an object, sending it into the air; creates earth waves; opens up the ground with fissures; sends rocks flying into the air; destroys foundation of a building, causing it to fall; shatters the building when it's about to fall on him; attempts to turn his powers on the Hulk ---remember, he can't affect organic matter.

"The tarmac heaves before Avalanche's bludgeoning force-beams...and whips like a thing alive at the slender Landslide."
"Rippling fluidly before the uncanny power of Avalanche, the runway heaves up and rolls back upon the Hulk."
"Hammered by the beams of force vibrating from Avalanche's hands, the runway caves in, dropping the Hulk into a cavernous hole."
"All I gotta do is stand over ya and let my hammerin' force-beams pound yer bones ta pulp!"
"I can crush rock, shatter steel---the vibrations I set up can tear apart anythin'! I've only tried once ta set up a series of internal quakes within a living body, but Landslide stopped me with a shockwave of his own! [...] I'm gonna break your bones from the inside out!"
"Waves of force which have knocked down walls and set the earth to flowing like a river hammer remorselessly against the Hulk's broad chest---remorselessly...and ineffectually. Avalanche realizes, too late, that he should have accepted the limitations of his power. Inanimate objects---stone, steel---crumble at his command. Animate objects---the Hulk, for instance---do not. Avalanche's vibratory force rebounds off the green goliath...the resultant feedback causing multiple fractures along every bone in the earth-moving mutant's arms."
Rom 31 ---creates an earth wave; his powers are out of control due to his broken arms.
"Tarmac flows like waves upon a sea."

Official Handbook Of The Marvel Universe, Deluxe Edition ---
"Avalanche is a mutant with the superhuman ability to generate powerful waves of vibrations from his hands, creating highly destructive effects. The vibrations can cause an inorganic object to shatter or crumble into dust. When directed against large objects like buildings or upon the earth itself, the vibrations can produce effects similar to those of an earthquake or avalanches within limited areas. Avalanche need not touch an object to affect it: he can direct the vibrations against it from some distance away from it.
Avalanche is himself invulnerable to the effects of generating these intense vibratory waves. However, if the vibrations were to be reflected back upon him, he would be severely injured.
For unknown reasons, Avalanche's power has little or no effect on organic tissue. When he once used his power against the Hulk, the Hulk was uninjured, but the resulting feedback shattered the bones of Avalanche's arms (which have since completely healed). Hence, although Avalanche's vibrations have little or no effect on organic tissue, the reflected vibrations (feedback) can injure him.
As yet there is no known limit to the amount of area upon which Avalanche can use his powers at one time. However, there is no evidence that he could create an earthquake capable of destroying an entire city."
