There is some doubt on the part of Rick Hunter that this marriage is spur of the moment, that Miriya is a zentraedi, that Max is out of his mind. It shows A LOT OF DEPTH in the part of Rick's character that he changes his mind when he sees how beautiful Miriya is. Yeah, I'm not being sarcastic.
It is my humble opinion that because Miriya was so won over by Max's love, that she foolishly allowed Minmie to pick out her dress and veil. Max, having no fashion sense himself when it comes to formal occasions, probably abided by her opinion as well. Because of this, their wedding has not only fluffy, frilly duds, it also has rainbows. Now I like rainbows as much as the next person, but veritech shooting out rainbows? No way!
Miriya: "Max, hon, let's just get the hell out of here!"
Max: "Anything you say dear. If I fly fast enough, we won't be able to hear Minmie sing!"
